Transmashholding to build six five-unit trains for Baku Metro in 2019

Metrowagonmash (part of Transmashholding) and Baku Metro signed a contract to ship 30 “81-765.B/766.B” metro cars to the capital of Azerbaijan.
Per conditions of the contract, Baku Metro will receive six trains before the end of 2019. Each will have two head motor cars with driver cabins and three middle motor cars.

Metrowagonmash’s General Director Boris Bogatyrev and Baku Metropolitan’s Chairman Zaur Guseinov signed the contract. The first batch is scheduled for the second quarter of the year.

Baku’s subway will receive new train models, produced since 2017. Compared to previous generations, they have wider doorways and a pass-through design.
“81-765.B/766.B” trains utilize a new system to alert passengers of opening and closing of the doors. The contemporary design of carriages assumes advanced noise and heat insulation, quality air conditioning, power outlets for charging of electronic devices. The head cars will have areas for wheelchairs and bicycles.
The carriages will have a custom color scheme and a localized version of the information system.

Metrowagonmash and Baku Metropolitan have a history of fruitful cooperation. The former has been making rolling stock for Azerbaijan capital since 1967. Today, Baku’s subway has over 300 metro cars made by the plant in Mytishi. In 2015, Transmashholding shipped three five-unit metro trains “81-765.B/766.B” with a pass-through design. In 2018, the holding shipped two metro trains “81-765/766”. The products deserved positive feedback from both passengers and drivers.
